Delight in new compositions by Monica Pearce and Dorothy de Val featuring mezzo Paula Arciniega. Among the world premieres, Maria Soulis (mezzo) and her sister, collaborative pianist Evelina Soulis, perform Colin Eatock’s Three Songs from “The Prophet” based on Kahlil Gibran’s texts. Allison Arends (with Suzanne Yeo on piano) sparkles with the concert’s title piece and Peter Tiefenbach’s Three Poems for soprano, trumpet and piano. The Heliconian Club’s newest musician, contralto, Jacqueline Gélineau, foreshadows the holidays and our all Bach concert later in the season with excerpts from that composer’s Christmas Oratorio.
