Join us on Saturday March 9, 2013 at 8 pm and enjoy the artistry of celebrated Russian pianist Natalia Lepeshkina as she performs a colourful, evocative program of music by some of the classical world’s best-loved composers for the piano. She is joined by celebrated Canadian actress and singer, Peggy Mahon who will be narrating the evening and introducing the featured pieces.
The program begins with Ludwig van Beethoven’s ‘Moonlight’ Sonata (op. 27 no. 2) and continues with Schubert’s Impromptu (op. 90 no. 2) and a selection of etudes, waltzes and other pieces by one of the 19th century’s most celebrated pianist-composers, Fredéric Chopin.
The second half of the program is devoted to repertoire from Natalia’s Russian homeland, and offers a variety of works by P.I. Tchaikovsky, Sergei Rachnaninov and Sergei Prokofiev (March from ‘The Love for Three Oranges’), two Études by Alexander Scriabin, and a grand finalé with N. Rimsky-Korsakov’s Flight of the Bumblebee.
This promises to be a wonderful concert of the classics as interpreted by an accomplished performing artist. We hope you’ll join us and treat yourself to an evening of brilliant music and expressive playing by one of Toronto’s own celebrated pianists!
